A Fine copy, SIGNED BY JOHN IRVING on a tipped-in page (as was done by the publisher). The First Edition, preceding the trade edition and with an introduction by John Irving not contained in the trade edition. Publisher's inserts loosely laid in (a little edge wear to the laid in card). One of Irving's most-loved titles, the story of two boys, John Wheelwright and Owen Meany, growing up together. One of the boys(Owen) believes himself to be an instrument of God. The story of his captivating hold on, and influence of, others is told through the mature John Wheelwright. "Simon Birch" the 1998 starring Ian Michael Smith, Joseph Mazzello, Ashley Judd, Oliver Platt and Jim Carrey, was loosely based on the novel, but differs quite a bit from it. In fact, Irving requested the the novels title not be used for the movie as he believed it would mislead the book's public, drawing them to see a movie that varied greatly from the book. A Fine copy of a Fine novel, SIGNED BY JOHN IRVING.
