A Very Good + copy of the first edition, first printing, in the Publisher's original blue cloth with the spine lettered in gilt and decorated in white and the front board lettered and decorated in white, closed page block's top edge gilded (light wear and corner bumping) with the pastedowns and their respective facing pages illustrated with maps. The front free endpaper's verso bears a neat gift note dated 1911. The volume contains 15 coloured plates by Henry Ford, twelve additional sketches, five maps (in addition to those on the pastedowns and endpapers), and 23 new Poems by Rudyard Kipling. Per the author Preface: "This book is written for all boys and girls who are interested in the story of Great Britain and her Empire." Rudyard Kipling won the 1907 Nobel Prize for Literature, making him the first author writing in English to win the Prize and remains the youngest author ever to win the Prize.
