Knock Upon Silence [Rare: Signed copy in a Signed dust jacket; Association Copy]

Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1965. First Edition. Hardcover. A Fine copy of the first edition, first printing (tiny bump to each board's leading corner -- which nevertheless remain sharp) in a Very Good dust jacket with a few tiny tears and light rubs along with a vertical fold line along the spine -- presumably from mailing, a small ink mark to the rear flap and two small ink marks to the rear panel; the Feminist Poet and Social Justice Advocate's second book. The book is addressed, signed, and dated on the front free endpaper by Carolyn Kizer in the year of publication as follows: "For Maggie, // Friend to poets, // Devotions, homages, // Carolyn // 24 October 65" and the dust jacket's front flap has a note from Kizer as follows: "Bea, dear, // Give this cover / to Maggie. // Carolyn". Carolyn Kizer cofounded the prestigious journal Poetry Northwest, which she edited from its inception in 1959 until 1965, and won the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for "Yin: New Poems". Clearly an ASSOCIATION COPY WITH BOTH THE BOOK AND THE DUST JACKET BEING INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY CAROLYN KIZER using first names. Fine / very good. Item #2842
