Flemish Painting Before the Eighteenth Century: Special Autumn Number of "THE STUDIO" 1927

London: The Studio Ltd., 1927. First Edition. Hardcover. A Fine copy of the first edition, first printing, in a Fine dust jacket (some minute edge tears, minor soiling to the rear panel), complete with the scarce 8-page Notices of Interest to Subscribers to this Volume -- inserted loosely and likely discarded from most copies issued. The front board and spine panel are lettered in gilt and the closed page block's top edge is in gilt as well. This introductory survey of Flemish painting is divided into 39 sections and contains 90 plates, eight of which are in color. The book was simultaneously issued in hardcover and in paperback. Hardcover copies in the dust jacket are suprisingly uncommon, copies with the dust jacket in collectable condition are scarcer still, and copies as nice as is this copy are surprisingly scarce -- especially so when complete with the accompanying Notices booklet. A Fine copy in a Fine dust jacket, COMPLETE with the 8-page NOTICES document loosely laid in. Fine / fine. Item #2845
