Sir Harry Hotspur of Humblethwaite

London and New York: Macmillan and Co., 1871. Second Edition. Hardcover. A Very Good copy of this 1871 edition with general wear and some light sunning; originally published by Hurst and Blackett earlier in 1871. Due to the death of his son and sole heir, Sir Harry had to make a new Will, while the title itself would be inherited by a distant cousin, George Hotspur, a man of great personal charm who also was a spendthrift and gambler. Of the book, Hugh Walpole stated: "This is one of the little stories, only and episode, a proud, generous, irascible, old father, a gentle faithful-unto-death heroine, and a villain of desperate wickedness." A Very Good copy published in the same year as was the first edition. Very good. Item #3225
