New York: Harper & Brothers, 1917 and 1918. First Edition of the Complete Ten-Volume Edition. Hardcover. A Very Good + set of this famed work by the then-future (and then serving) President of the United State with considerable text beyond that contained in the earlier (1902) five [5] volume edition [issued before he became President], this set being Enlarged by the Addition of Original Sources and Leading Documents of American History, Including Narratives of Early Explorers, Grants, Charters, Concessions, Treaties, Revolutionary Documents, State Papers, Proclamations and Enactments. Illustrated with Contemporary Views, Portraits, Facsimiles and Maps Selected from Rare Books and Prints, and issued during Wilson's Presidency. The set has been bound in three-quarters brown leather with the inner boarders lined in gilt and with the balance of each board presented in coordinating marble paper. The buttressed spines and lettered, decorated, and lined in gilt and each pastedown and the facing side each accompanying free endpaper is marbled as well. The leather shows some rubbing and general wear and the lower left leading rear corner of Volume I shows a touch of darkening while the lower leading right section of leather to Volume IV's front board shows moisture darkening and tide marking. Woodrow Wilson served as the 28th president of the United States from 1913 to 1921. He earned a a Ph.D. in history and political science from Johns Hopkins University, taught at various colleges before becoming the president of Princeton University and as the governor of New Jersey before winning the 1912 presidential election.
