A Near Fine signed copy of this First Illustrated Edition of this issue in boards with the imprint of the Piccadilly Fountain Press in the Publisher's original green cloth (showing some light toning at the board edges and spine head) in a Very Good + dust jacket with some toning and a short closed tear to the upper portion of the front panel, as well as some spots to the flap folds, being number 193 of five hundred and thirty-five copies issued of which five hundred [500] were for sale in England and America. Most of the textual leaf pairs are unopened (uncut) and the top edge showing this to be an unread copy. The leaf hosing pp 83/84 shows some wrinkling and a short marginal tear to its outer margin, presumably due to someone's having attempted to open that leaf alone in spite of its having been attached to the the prior leaf hosting pp 81/22. Also, a prior seller's pencil notes appear on the front free endpaper's recto. [An extra spine label has been loosely laid in.] [This printing follows a five-volume wrappered edition of 25 copies published in 1930, presumably to secure the copyright.] This biography examines the great writer's novels to determine which of his childhood experiences affected his writings.
