The Original Manuscript (typed) of Albert E. Idell's novel "Pug", with corrections and editing notes in his hand. Idell has inscribed the half-title to his long-time Secretary Gen L. Kuzia (later Gen Cooley): "For GLK / From AEI"; Albert E. Idell's debut book, a novel centered on a young man who has a strong left-hand punch and who shows great promise while boxing at the YMCA. He then goes to New York to fight and eventually falls into the hands of a crooked Manager who matches him against a much-better boxer, leading to his being injured in the fight. He declines greatly, snaps from the stress, commits murder, and ends up being killed himself while working as a strike breaker. Notably, Idell drew on his own boxing experience in Philadelphia as inspiration for the novel. The Manuscript is in Very Good condition and is housed in the original binder with the front joint cracked but holding well. A rare ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT complete with CORRECTIONS AND EDITS in Albert E. Idell's hand and PRESENTED BY ALBERT E. IDELL to his Secretary. A Rare Association item, the ORIGINAL TYPESCRIPT OF ALBERT E. IDELL'S DEBUT NOVEL, ANNOTATED AND SIGNED BY ALBERT E. IDELL TO HIS SECRETARY.
