A Fine copy, in a Fine dust jacket. The third, and one of the shortest, of Gaddis' five novels (one of which was published posthumously and two of which won National Book Awards), and the most successful of his novels as of its publishing. The book is set in a house of Gothic design, but which is built of substitutes for the normal materials of Gothic Architecture and thus, in a sense, is a fake-Gothic house. The book offers a satire on religious dogmatism and absolutist thinking. A Fine copy of a very humorous novel.
