A Fine copy of the first edition, first printing (some offsetting to the pastedowns and to each terminal free endpapers) in a Fine dust jacket with some modest soiling; a Play set in New Orleans during the Great Depression and the winner of the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play. A semi-autobiographical Play which evolved from a plot suggested by Hellman's lover Dashiell Hammett and took her three years to complete. The Broadway Cast included Jason Robards, Jr., Maureen Stapleton, Irene Worth, Anne Revere, Rochelle Oliver, Percy Rodrigues, and Charles McRae. The Play also provided the basis for the 1963 Film of the same name starring Dean Martin, Geraldine Page, Yvette Mimieux, Gene Tierney, and Wendy Hiller. A Fine, unusually nice, copy of this notable work in a Fine, dust jacket with modest soiling.
