Description

A Fine copy of the first edition, first printing, wearing a Fine dust jacket and housed in a Fine slipcase (issued to us upon publication without a video), SIGNED BY JACK BECKHAM COMBS, JENNIFER L. MCCOY, and JULIE E. SWEIG on the title page. Making 15 trips to Cuba over a period of eight years, New Mexico Photographer Jack Beckham photographed ordinary Cubans, both urban and rural, all across the Island, and from every Cuban Province, as they lived their daily lives. These remarkable photographs give the viewer a feeling of being in Cuba and witnessing first-hand the scenes presented. All of the photographs are candid shots and none of them were posed, allowing one to get a true sense of life on this beautiful Island. Director of the Carter Center's Americas Program Jennifer L. McCoy, who accompanied President Carter on his 2002 visit to the Island, provides the book's Foreword, and Dr. Julia E. Sweig, Rockefeller Senior Fellow and Director of Latin American Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, provides an interesting and insightful Essay on Cuba and its future. Virtually all signed copies of the book are signed by only the Photographer. As noted above, this copy has been SIGNED BY JACK BECKHAM COMBS, JENNIFER L. MCCOY, and JULIE E. SWEIG and is quite scarce thus. A Fine copy, SIGNED BY ALL THREE CONTRIBUTORS.
