Description

A Very Good or better copy of the first edition, first printing (some curving to the board -- otherwise Fine), wearing a Fine dust jacket, SIGNED BY JACK COMBS on the title page and there dated by him "May 2010". Making 15 trips to Cuba over a period of eight years, New Mexico Photographer Jack Beckham photographed ordinary Cubans, both urban and rural, all across the Island, and from every Cuban Province, as they lived their daily lives. These remarkable photographs give the viewer a feeling of being in Cuba and witnessing first-hand the scenes presented. All of the photographs are candid shots and none of them were posed, allowing one to get a true sense of life on this beautiful Island. Director of the Carter Center's Americas Program Jennifer L. McCoy, who accompanied President Carter on his 2002 visit to the Island, provides the book's Foreword, and Dr. Julia E. Sweig, Rockefeller Senior Fellow and Director of Latin American Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, provides an interesting and insightful Essay on Cuba and its future. A nice copy, SIGNED BY JACK COMBS.
