A Very Good copy of the first edition, second printing before publication, in the Publisher's original oatmeal cloth (expected toning to boards, a few spots to each board, spine toned, board corners turned a bit inward, bump to the rear board's lower left corner, some fading to the green top edge of the page block, darkening to pastedowns due to the type of binder's glue used, prior owner's small name and address sticker to the front free endpaper's upper right corner), in a Very Good price-clipped dust jacket (some loss at the spine ends, closed tear to the upper portion of the spine general toning, moderate edge wear), SIGNED BY JOHN STEINBECK on the half-title. The book presents the story of modern medicine's coming to a small Mexican village, and includes 136 black and white photographs taken from the movie from which the book originated. Steinbeck provides the text for each photograph. John Steinbeck won the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature for his "realistic and imaginative writing, combining as it does sympathetic humor and keen social perception." Signed copies are uncommon to the market. A Very Good copy, SIGNED BY JOHN STEINBECK.
