A Very Good to Very Good + copy of the first UK edition, first printing (a bit of rubbing to the spine ends, slight marking to the closed page block's edges, scattered mild foxing, tiny bends to the leading corner of a few leaves), in a Fine dust jacket (light sunning to the spine panel, some toning to the top and bottom edge of each flap); the remarkable story of Oskar Schindler and his efforts to save Jews from death by employing them in his factory. The first UK edition is the True First Edition and precedes the first American edition (which was published under the title "Schindler's List"). The book won the 1982 Booker Prize (a literary prize awarded each year for the best original novel written in the English language and published in the UK), and provided the basis for the 1993 Steven Spielberg film "Schindler's List" starring Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, and Ben Kingsley. The film won seven Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Art Direction (and received nominations in five other categories). Considered one of the greatest films made, the American Film Institute ranked the film 8th on its list of the 100 best American films of all time, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry, Stephen Schiff of The New Yorker called it the best historical drama about the Holocaust, a movie that "will take its place in cultural history and remain there", and the Vatican named Schindler's List as one of the most important 45 films ever made. An altogether Very Good + copy.
