New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1889. First Edition. Hardcover. A Near Fine copy of the first edition, first printing in the Publisher's RARE DUST JACKET. The binding shows little wear and the gilt to the front board and spine are bright. The closed page block's top edge is also in gilt and the pastedowns and facing side of each free endpaper are elegantly decorated. The RARE dust jacket shows chipping and a horizontal stain to the rear panel's upper portion and the front flap is detached. There is light pencil writing to a couple of the otherwise blank pages to the front and rear. Furthermore, nineteenth Century Dust Jackets are EXCEEDINGLY SCARCE TO THE MARKET.
