A Fine copy of the First American Edition, First Printing in the Publisher's original green boards and black spine in a Fine example of the original dust jacket with the spine lettered in the color gold. The book was first published by Macmillan in 1977 and was thereafter published in the United States by Counterpoint in 2000. As stated on the dust jacket's front flap: "PENELOPE FITZGERALD---author of The Blue Flower, The Bookshop and other incomparable novels--- was born Penelope Mary Knox, daughter of the editor of Punch and heir to a family legacy of wit, intelligence and distinctive literary achievement." Prior to that, in 1977 she wrote this book of nonfiction as a tribute to her father and his brothers in gratitude for the legacy she inherited from them. This is a Fine copy with a modest push to the spine tail housed in a Fine dust jacket with some minor imperfections. Item #3929
